Music & Singing

Hand Bells To develop the skills involved in making music using handbells and to have fun doing it.

Jazz and all that Study of Jazz through the Ages. Members bring in their own CDs and tapes, which leads to discussion.

Music Appreciation

The group is intended to bring together members who enjoy listening to a wide range of classical music in an informal atmosphere. At each meeting there will be a presentation on some aspect of music eg a period, a composer or selected works of a composer. Presentations will be made by the Group Leader, but other group members are invited (absolutely no pressure) to make presentations if they wish.

Ukulele Beginners

A mixed ability group aimed at helping you start to learn the ukulele and graduate to one of the ukulele for fun groups. To get the most satisfaction and a sense of achievement from the group a bit of practice between sessions would be desirable but this is not serious music; we're playing for fun. A tuner will be required.

Ukulele for fun (2 Groups)

We are a friendly mixed ability group playing and singing numbers from a variety of genres using songbooks and songsheets with the words and the ukulele chords. Depending on how well-oiled your ukulele expertise is you may need to practice on your own at home a bit to get the maximum enjoyment and a sense of achievement from the group sessions. We sometimes arrange impromptu practice get-togethers on the Wednesdays between advertised sessions. New members are always welcome, we don't take ourselves too seriously; after all it is "Ukulele for fun".

Singing for Fun

We love to sing various pieces of music, including items from the shows, local folk songs etc, with the emphasis on singing for the fun of it. We give occasional concerts to various groups.
