General studies in astronomy, cosmology, astrophysics, space exploration and engineering. Members contribute on subjects of their own choice, including introductions to general topics and issues. The programme is flexible to meet members' convenience and interests. Group discussions are encouraged, current events are followed. Video equipment is available to support these activities and to show documentaries.

Lectures by visiting speakers or group members on our industrial heritage and aspects of science. Three visits arranged during the year.

Physical Geography

The Group studies the formation of the Earth from its beginnings to the present day and the impact of natural and manmade forces on its continuing development . No expertise needed – just interest and enthusiasm.


A self help group studying road, rail, sea & air transport, including transport infrastructure, roads & rail developments, bridges, tunnels, airports, seaports & harbours. We also make transport related visits
