Time is running out

for Windows 7

If you use Windows 7 on your PC/ Laptop/ Notebook you need to be aware that Microsoft support for Windows 7 will cease in January 2020.

Your PC will continue to run, but will no longer receive security updates, and is therefore more vulnerable to hacking and less likely to be compatible with newer software and hardware.

Windows 7 is 10 years old, and it is unlikely that 10 year old hardware can be upgraded to run Windows 10 satisfactorily, but before you consider what to do next ask yourself do I need a Windows PC.

I believe the "free" upgrade to Windows 10 offer from Microsoft ended in 2016.

If you just browse the web, send & receive emails perhaps a Chromebook, or Tablet (Android or iPad) would meet your needs.

If you use specific software programs on an older PC you have to buy an upgrade to get a Windows 10 compatible version.

If you have peripherals (printers/ screens/ CD readers etc) attached to an older PC check that they will connect to a new PC before you buy. (Connector types have changed, and driver files may not be available for Windows 10)
